A Byrum Christmas...

Christmas is pretty much here already!!!! I finished most of my shopping today, however there is still more to do. I put it off till today and got it all pretty much done. Impressive.... The Holidays can be so crazy. I'm trying not to stress out because I know that both of the boys are too young to have high expectations for Christmas...This is pretty much Kaden's first Christmas too since last year he didn't really know what was going on. He is so excited, every time he sees anything Christmas related he says "Claus". Some other new ones were, Christmas, snowman, lights, tree, pliers, climb, jump, pretty much any word you tell him to say. It's the cutest thing to hear him pronounce these new words! I am really looking forward to this Christmas and just hope for a happy day together as a family. Merry Christmas everyone! XOXO

Back to work this week!

This week was a good week...It is starting to feel more and more like Christmas around here. We still haven't gotten our tree yet, but we did get our lights up and some Christmas decorations around the house. The Tree will be this weekend. On Wednesday I went back to work, back to Salon Lux, just two days a week. It was weird being away from the boys but I actually liked doing my own thing for the day. I think it will be good for me. Wednesday was also the day that Santa Claus was going to be at Mike's work...So, Kaden got to sit on Santa's lap and actually so did Austin. Kaden was not scared or shy around Santa, he gave him a high five and touched his beard! I missed that which made me kinda sad, but were going to try and take them again so I can go. We got two adorable pictures on Polaroid film which reminds me of the pictures of me and Santa when I was little. Kaden learned a new word... "Claus"! Everyday he learns something new, it is amazing to me. Thursday was the first day Mike stayed home with both boys all day long. He did a great job, however the boys stayed in their pajamas all day and they didn't leave the house at all. :) He got a glimpse of what it is like to stay home with them. It was nice for me to see that when I leave everything can still be taken care of. The boys loved being with their Dad and Momma got a break!

Here is Kaden at the dinosaur park on Friday, we had to get him out, to burn off some energy!

My babies....

Hello everyone! I started this so I can update everyone on our family. This will be easier for me to post pictures and tell stories here instead of sending out pictures everyday. I will still send out pictures when I can too! Little Austin is going to be 3 months tomorrow! It's crazy to think how fast things have gone by!!! He is so sweet, his little personality is starting to come out and he is no longer that baby that just sits there. He is now reaching for things and trying to play. He makes cooing noises and tries his hardest to talk. Kaden is 20 months now and is talking up a storm. We are surprised every day by his ever expanding vocabulary. It's so sweet to hear his voice and it's nice for him to tell us what he needs and wants. He can say almost anything he hears, so we all have to be careful what we say around him. Overall, everyone is doing great. Mike is working hard as always, preparing for the holiday season in the grocery business is always a busy time of year. However, he still continues to be a wonderful husband to me and a fantastic Daddy to our boys. I am really enjoying being a mom. I am busy at all times during the day and I find that my job is never done... but I am the happiest that I have ever been right now. My family is my world and I am just thankful for them. Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Hopefully I can post more before Christmas, but just in case...Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!!

Austin Keith Byrum
Born September 12, 2007
8lbs 5oz 20 1/4 inches long
We are so in love!

On September 12th 2007 Austin made his grand entrance. My Mom and I had taken Kaden on a long walk and by the time I had gotten back to the house I was having contractions that were getting more intense. They were coming every 5-8 minutes. I decided to wait it out a bit to make sure this was actually "it". Over the next four hours my contractions had become more regular. They were coming every 5 minutes and had been for about an hour. Around 4pm we decided to head to the hospital. My Dad came by and picked up Kaden and we headed to the hospital. My Mom met us there. When I got into my room, they checked me and I was only 2 centimeters...I was so bummed. That is exactly what I was the day before at my doctors apt. I thought i had made some progress since then. But no... The nurses told me to walk around for a bit and they would check me again in an hour. They did and I had dialated to 3. They still weren't sure if they were going to admit me yet since there still was a chance labor could just stop. I walked around more and they checked me again and I was the same! By this point I was sick of walking around. My contractions were getting more intense and I was continually progressing. I kinda knew at that point that I wouldn't be going on. They still waited to do all th bloodwork and final steps to get me admitted and registered. Around 9:45 my water broke. It was in the middle of a contraction and I felt the pop. It was really weird. The nurse knew then that I wouldn't be going home and she began to get me admitted. Within minutes I was asking for an epidural. The pain was unlike anything I had ever felt and I just didn't know if I could take it. Since it was 10pm, I couldn't just get an epidural. The nurse told me she would page the anesthesiologist. Basically to spare the details. It took less than an hour from when my water broke to be fully dialated and ready to push. The midwive showed up and told me to get up and drain my bladder...At that point, she didn't realize that I was fully dialated and ready to push. Somehow I managed to get back in bed. She checked me and told me that I was ready and I could push when I felt the urge. I literally pushed like 3 times and he was out. Austin was born at 11:07pm. It was crazy fast. No time for an epidural. He is beautiful and perfect. Kaden came to meet his brother the very next day. Kaden was so sweet with Austin in the hospital, we were able to get some really great pictures of him meeting him for the first time.
