Kaden had his first day of preschool today. Last night I really was trying to have everything organized for the morning. I had his little snack packed, his backpack ready, his clothes laying out...I was thinking ahead. I had it all planned out how I wanted the night to go. Well things didn't quite go the way that I planned it. I was shooting for Kaden to be asleep by 9pm. He had taken a late nap, so I knew that bed time might be a struggle. He seemed whiny and his allergies really seemed to be bothering him. He kept itching his nose and sneezing. We read books, brushed our teeth, got water, did the whole routine, but he just didn't seem to be acting himself. 10 O'clock rolled around and Kaden was still awake in bed, he was whining in there and calling for me to come in there every 2 minutes. I started to get nervous thinking that maybe he was getting a cold. Not good timing.... Well he did this till about 11:30. Finally I brought him out on the couch so we could sleep together, at least that way I wouldn't have to keep getting up. We fell asleep out there till about 3, then I put him back to bed. He slept the rest of the night after that, till about 7:45...I was fully expecting to keep him home from school. This broke my heart because he had been looking forward to school starting for so long! When he woke up this morning the first thing he said was "Mommy will you pack me waffles for lunch?" He didn't seem sick at all and he said he was feeling fine. He was nasally and sneezy, but not snotty at all. We decided we would just give it a try.
I talked to his teachers and explained that I thought it was just allergies and to call me if they needed me to come get him.
Mike came home to stay with Austin so I could give Kaden my whole attention on his first day. He was really excited and posed in his back pack. When I left him in his classroom he seemed great. He was playing with a toy, he gave me two kisses and I told him that I would be back to get him by noon. When I got home without Kaden, Austin seemed confused. He said "Kaden?" and threw his little hands out and if to say "where is my brother?" It was super cute. It was great having one on one time with Austin. We headed out of the house to the bank, then to visit Daddy at work, then we went to the pet store, we went to the park and played, then finally ended up at the park right next to Kaden's school. I couldn't wait to see Kaden. When they opened up the doors to the classroom you could see all the students sitting at their tables just waiting to see their parents. I could see Kaden looking all around looking for me. When he saw us, he smiled so big and gave me the biggest hug. Then he looked over at Austin, both of them grinning ear to ear, so happy to see each other, and then they hugged. It was so amazing and sweet. I love them so much. I love how much they love each other. I never want that to go away. I thought Kaden did amazing considering the night he had, he still seems pretty congested, so it is possible that he could be getting a cold. We are laying low right now. This is what he brought home on his first day...What a talented little boy I know... ;)
I know a lot of you were wondering how the first day went. Kaden did say that he wanted to go back to school again, so that is a start in the right direction. He seems to really like his teachers and he had a great first day! YAY! and I didn't even cry....
